Position Title: Systems Project Engineer
Department: Systems and Process Engineering
Reports To: Systems Product Manager
Primary Objectives:
o Responsible for design wastewater treatment systems (including SBR, Oxidation Ditch, Fixed Film Media, and DAF systems) following receipt of purchase order.
o Prepare approval submittals information, certified drawings, and O&M Manuals consistent with the project plans and specifications and scope of supply.
o Coordinate with Consulting Engineers and Contractors regarding plant design, installation, start-up, and trouble-shooting.
o Maintain project within budget and schedule.
o Serve as key liaison with Client on contract-related issues.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Project Engineering
o Professionally communicate in oral and written form with Aeration Industries personnel, consulting engineers, contractors, sales representatives, and owners.
o Read and understand customer project drawings including electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, structural, hydraulic, and P&ID drawings to integrate system designs into new construction or existing locations.
o Read and understand customer project specifications and be able to incorporate requirements into system design.
o Direct CAD Designer in preparation of approval submittal drawings. Review and approve all drawings for compliance with project plans and specifications.
o Direct Project Administrator in preparation of Cut Sheet Information and Submittal package information for Approval submittal package.
o Prepare approval submittal cover letter.
o Prepare design calculations regarding process flows, hydraulics, equipment sizing, pipe sizing, etc. to properly specify and design wastewater system equipment
o Work with outside vendors to select and size equipment such as pumps, valves, etc.
o Direct CAD Designer in preparation of installation and fabrication drawings for all equipment. Review and approve all drawings.
o Review and approve Bill of Materials prepared by CAD Designer.
o Work with Purchasing to review and analyze vendor quotes for technical compliance with project requirements.
o Address any technical questions from outside vendors or fabricators during equipment procurement and fabrication phase of the project.
o Address questions from the Contractor regarding installation of the Systems equipment.
o Prepare Operations and Maintenance Manuals with the assistance of the Project Administrator.
o Travel to job site to provide start-up service and operator training.
Project Management
o Review Contractor PO and Terms and Conditions for agreement/conflict with AIII Terms and Conditions and quoted scope of supply. Work with Project Administrator to manage risks associated with contract terms and conditions.
o Check proposal and pricing sheet to confirm scope and pricing agree with project plans and specifications. Confirm overall project margin and commission with RSM.
o Organize kick-off meeting to officially transfer project from sales to execution. Involve appropriate sales personnel, purchasing, applications engineer, and designer.
o Document all project price and engineering modifications.
o Keep drawings revised and up-to-date to reflect any changes throughout life of project.
o Maintain project schedule regarding delivery of approval submittal information, certified drawings, and O&M manuals and shipment of equipment.
o Where possible, utilize value engineering to increase the overall project margin without compromising quality.
o Monitor and maintain responsibility for the full scope of involved disciplines in the execution of the project including engineering, administration, procurement, quality control, shipping, collections, legal, and field services.
Qualifications:
o BS Degree in Civil/Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
o Minimum 5 years wastewater plant design experience involving activated sludge processes. Strong knowledge of and experience with sizing, design, and operation of SBR systems is required. Knowledge of oxidation ditches, DAF systems, and fixed film media systems a plus.
o Experience with design, start-up, troubleshooting, and operation of wastewater treatment plants.
o Strong math/computer/technical aptitude required. Strong knowledge of wastewater design calculations and application of engineering principles.
o Experience with meeting strict schedule and budget requirements.
o Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
